Born and raised in Queens, New York, Delia had an innate interest in art and began drawing as soon as she could hold a pencil. At the age of thirteen, she and four other NYC students were selected to travel to Japan, accompanied by their art teachers* as delegates of the Asia Society to promote goodwill through art. This incredible experience in using art as a communication tool, set the tone for her career to follow.
In 1992, Delia earned a BFA in Communication Design from Pratt Institute and soon after graduating, became a senior designer at News Communications – a company that owned 14 newspaper publications at the time. A few years later, she joined Jobson Publishing as an Art Director. During this time she also began to build a side business, designing logos and promotional materials for various small to mid-sized businesses. In 1998 Bonfilio Design was launched and operated from a small studio in the heart of NYC’s Union Square.
The agency went on to create the NYC 2000 logo for the City of New York, and branded the Millennium Celebrations that occurred throughout the year – including the famed New Year’s Celebration in Times Square. Since then Bonfilio’s work has adorned products and promotional materials for many well known brands including Jose Cuervo, Diageo, PepsiCo, Godiva Chocolatier, The Big East Conference, and Channel Island Surfboards.
In March of 2012, Delia traded in the hustle and bustle of NYC for a vibrant beach community in Southern California. As a zealous advocate for women, animals, and the environment, Bonfilio looks to work and partner with like-minded entrepreneurs, ventures and corporations that strive to affect positive change in these areas.
